Q. Would it be beneficial for me to configure a DNS server on our local network?
A. There are a number of circumstances where a local DNS server configured on your local network is not only beneficial but is an essential requirement.
These being :- If you have a native Windows 2000 network. i.e. all servers and workstations are running Windows 2000.
If you have any Windows 2000 pro or XP machines on your network.
The reason that DNS is a essential requirement in these situations are, facilities such as group policies will not function correctly and all Windows 2000 / XP machines on your network will try to register them selves with the LLN DNS servers.
Q. Why does the process SWEEPSRV.SYS hog all the resources on my server, consequently making it run very slowly?
A. The SWEEPSRV.SYS process takes care of scanning the central installation files / directories on the server for viruses. This problem can occur when there have been lots of virus detection instances reported to the server by the workstations.

No reopen the Sophos Antivirus console, click the IC Server tab then click the green GO button.
