Q.   When I open an email in Microsoft Outlook I see the message Outlook blocked access to the following potentially unsafe document: < filename> as shown below. How do I access the attachment?



A.  The message you are receiving is normal for Microsoft Outlook configured will all the latest security updates. You will need to contact the sender of the email and have them resend the attachment in a zip format using a tool such as Winzip to create a new attachment.

Q.   What is the best way to ensure that my PC has all the latest Microsoft Windows and Office security patches and enhancements installed?



A. The best way to do this is to use the windows update facility which is accessible by clicking on the following link http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
You should see a screen similar to the following one after logging on to Leeds Learning Network.





Click Product Updates to Windows and Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office Product Updates for Microsoft Office updates.

NOTE:- You will need to be logged on to the machine you wish to update with administrative rights and if you are updating Microsoft Office you will need the original installation CD as part of the upgrade.
