Q.  Is it possible for the agency that supports my computers to do remote support using the ISDN line installed by Leeds Learning Network?

A.   Yes it is possible to use the Leeds Learning Network ISDN line to allow your computer support company to carry out remote support work. However there are a few things to bear in mind :-

Either the school or third party agency wishing to carry out remote support must provide an ISDN Terminal Adapter to connect to the schools curriculum server.

Remote support will not be possible if both ISDN channels are already in use.

The call back facility provided by the Server operating system must not be enabled. If this is the case, then calls via call back will be billed to the school as this falls out side the Schools Internet Caller package provided by BT.

The third party carrying out remote support must not use both channels of the ISDN line as this would prevent both curriculum and administration staff from accessing Leeds Learning Network while the remote support session is carried out.

Q.  Why does Sophos antivirus software on my Microsoft Windows NT4.0 and 2000 PCs not update properly?

A.  Check the event log for one of the PC’s that is not updating, if it contains a message regarding unable to logon the SweepUPD account. Then someone has changed the password for this account. Either change the password back to the original or re-paste the configuration to all your PC’s using SAV Admin.
