Setting up Microsoft Windows 2000 DNS server to work with
Leeds Learning Network.

When configuring a Microsoft Windows 2000 Server you may need to configure a local DNS server that all your clients connect too. The main reason will be because Windows 2000 group policies require a DNS server to be configured on your server.

Due to this requirement you must configure your DNS server to forward requests that it doesn’t know about, to the Leeds Learning Network DNS servers. This document shows you how to go about doing this.

First select the Networking link from the Windows 2000 Configure Your Server wizard and select DNS and you will get the screen that is shown below.

Click on the Manage link to get the following window.

Select the server to configure DNS on, right mouse click and select Configure the Server....

The Configure DNS Server Wizard will startup.

Click Next.

Select Yes, create a forward lookup zone and Click Next.

Select the Active Directory-integrated option and click Next.
