Your Library
Service
Leeds Library and Information Service has 56 static
libraries, a Central Library and 7 mobile libraries. As well as
having community information, all service points have adult and
children's books, including large print, for you to borrow.
You can also borrow maps, language courses, foreign fiction, books
in community languages, videos, music cds, music, playsets and audio
cassettes from some or all libraries. Planning Applications are
available for consultation in the larger libraries.
By the end of 2002 you'll be able to access the Internet,
which is free, in all libraries, as well as word processing facilities.
Leeds community history is collected and conserved for people to
enjoy in the Local Studies Library - you can trace your family tree,
too.
Libraries
in the Community
To reflect the Government's modernisation agenda,
libraries are divided into six geographical groups, including
Central, relating to Leeds City Council's community planning
areas. An Area Services Manager is responsible for each patch. |
