The Stephen Lawrence Inquiry Report (1999)

Recommendation for Education

The Stephen Lawrence Inquiry Report makes three recommendations that relate specifically to education:

Recommendation 67

That consideration be given to the amendment of the national curriculum aimed at valuing cultural diversity and preventing racism, in order to better reflect the needs of a diverse society.

Recommendation 68

That local education authorities and school governors have the duty to create and implement strategies in their school to prevent and address racism.

Recommendation 69

That OfSTED inspections include an examination of the implementation of such strategies.
