The Stephen Lawrence Education Award:
Celebrating Racial Equality in Your School

The Stephen Lawrence Education Award was established by the Race Equality Advisory Forum (REAF) in 1999/2000 to further encourage schools to promote racial equality and share good practice. Education Leeds is committed to maintaining the Award and has agreed to the management of it and work in partnership with the Stephen Lawrence Education Award Sub-Group to ensure its success.

Establishment of the Stephen Lawrence Education Award was seen as a way of helping schools to the implementation of the Recommendations made to education in the Stephen Lawrence Inquiry Report. The Award gives an opportunity to schools to focus on good race equality practice and to develop it further.

The Award is the first of its kind in the country and has been designed to:
