The Star Network connects all Leeds Schools, the City Council and Education Leeds together, enabling secure, reliable and high-speed access to the Internet and a range of additional IT services. Star enables your school to meet and exceed Government targets by providing a symmetric 10Mbps broadband connection and a secure and reliable way of connecting to the National Education Network. The DCSF requires that all schools have a symmetric broadband connection with a minimum of 2Mbps for primary schools and 8Mbps for secondary schools.
Star is over 20 times faster than ADSL and 80 times faster than ISDN and is highly suitable for accessing media-rich collaborative material on the NEN including movies, interactive sites, graphics and sounds. Star is future proof and can be upgraded to provide greater bandwidth as and when this becomes necessary.
