Secure Routing to Support Capita SIMS E-registration Module
SIMS e-Registration will allow teachers to take an online register, which will automatically update SIMS. We are currently working on ways of linking the Admin and Curriculum networks securely.

Content Delivery Network Pre-delivery Edge Caching and Filtering
This new technology will enable schools to pre-load curriculum content from the Internet into a content delivery device, prior to delivery in the classroom. This means that when pupils access this data during a lesson it is delivered straight from the local cache making it much quicker and more stable. It is also possible for schools to filter pre-delivered content.
Microsoft Software Update Service (SUS)
SUS (software update service) allows Network Administrators to apply Microsoft critical updates and patches to all PC's on the network from a local distribution server. This server receives daily updates from the LLN WAN (wide area network) SUS server. This means, for example, that updates for Microsoft windows 2000 and above would be sent directly to all machines on a network, avoiding the need for users to manually update each individual machine.

Free Pathe News Archive Content
Pathe News has digitalized its entire catalogue of bi-weekly news bulletins and made these available online.
LLN provides FREE access to these materials which comprise over 3,500 hours of historical footage from 1910 -1970.
Accessing these materials would normally cost between £20 and £250 per film reel viewed and the LLN site will directly log you in to Pathe News, preventing the need for separate User details.
The film clips can be downloaded and viewed in Windows Media 8 format.
Free Web Site Creation Tool (Web Wizard)
LLN provide free web space for all schools. Schools can use our FREE web wizard creation tool to develop their own website that can be hosted in this space. This LLN Team Site has been created using the WebWizard and another example is the Leeds Communities website - http://www.leedscommunities.org/.
The Web Wizard is easy to use and requires no knowledge of HTML programming. You simply choose a template and upload your own text and graphics to brand your site with your chosen colours and logos.
In-School Remote Security Camera Monitoring Over IP Broadband
Schools connected to the Star network can be set up to enable their third party security services supplier to monitor their school CCTV cameras over the Star Network. The service is free to operate over the Star Network, however there is a cost incurred for the initial set up of the CCTV.
